Halloween is fun fun fun! Nobody can argue with that! Decorating the house, getting all dressed up, and it is the one night of the year they can have candy for dinner!
Halloween is the day that you and the family get to wear whatever you want. Everyday we have to dress according to social norms, whether it’s a school dress code, work clothes, or even what our parents tell us to wear. However, Halloween is the day that we get to dress up as whatever we to be.
This past week we held our annual Costume Bash, along with the YMCA, SafeCity Mississauga and the Region of Peel. The event was a huge success and it attracted over 60 kids and their parents to enjoy a night full of food, prizes, free costumes and a chance to be a kid and have a good time. This year was the first that we held a costume drive. We are so thankful to everyone who donated over 100 costumes for the youth of Ridgeway. So many youth received costumes this year. Since it was such a success, this is something we will continue in the future.
At the end of the night, the EMYC staff gave away pumpkins that were donated by Jeff and Joe Atkinson (ReMax) so the community members could celebrate, and spend the time carving pumpkins over the weekend!
Lastly, we want to thank all the staff, volunteers, donors, and the community members who took part in the event! We hope you enjoyed it.
